PSEG-Long Island Activates New System Relief Program for Residential Customers
Meltek is the only aggregator that helps residential customers participate in the program and earn rewards.
LONG ISLAND, NY, July 12, 2024 /Meltek.com/ -- PSEG-Long Island announced today the activation of its new System Relief Program, a demand response initiative that aims to reduce peak load and enhance grid reliability during periods of high electricity demand. The program is available to virtually all residential customers who have a smart meter installed and are willing to reduce their electricity consumption during system relief events.
System relief events are typically triggered by extreme weather conditions, such as next week’s heat wave, that cause a surge in electricity demand and put stress on the grid. Customers who enroll in Meltek's program will receive a notification from Meltek via email, text, or push notifications, typically the day before a system relief event, and will be asked to reduce their electricity use for a specified duration, usually between two and four hours. Customers who successfully reduce their electricity use during a system relief event will earn rewards based on how much energy was reduced.
To sign up for free, customers can visit Meltek.com or download the Meltek app on their iPhone or Android device and follow the instructions to enroll in the program. Signing up with Meltek does not change a customer’s electric service provider or otherwise alter the customer’s relationship with PSEG-Long Island.
