How to read your ConEd electric bill
A flat fee you pay every month regardless of usage. ConEd charges $16.33/month for most residential customers (SC1).
Covers the cost of maintaining the power lines and infrastructure that bring electricity to your home. ConEd's delivery rate increases above 250 kWh/month — this is called a tiered rate structure.
The cost of the electricity itself, purchased from generators. If you use ConEd's default supply, this is variable month-to-month. You can choose a third-party supplier (ESCO) to fix this rate.
NYC customers pay NYC sales tax (4.5%), NYS sales tax (4%), and several utility benefit surcharges — together adding roughly 18–20% to your pre-tax bill.
Through Meltek, you earn cash payments on top of your bill for participating in peak demand events. These are separate from bill credits.
