Con Edison Rebates and Incentives: Every Program for NYC and Westchester Homes
Updated November 2, 2026 · Independent guide by Meltek — not Con Edison
Con Edison runs a handful of rebate and incentive programs for homes in New York City and Westchester County. This page lists each one, who it is for and where to apply. Each section links to Con Edison's own page for the current amounts, because Con Edison changes them during the year.
To see every incentive available at your address, use Con Edison's Incentive Viewer.
Smart thermostat rebate
Con Edison pays a rebate when you enroll a qualifying connected smart thermostat in its Bring Your Thermostat program. Our smart thermostat rebate guide covers the amount, which models qualify and how to claim it, including why it can't pay out alongside Smart Usage Rewards for the same thermostat.
Heat pumps: Clean Heating and Cooling
Con Edison's Clean Heating and Cooling program offers incentives for heat pumps that heat your home. Heat pumps that only cool don't qualify. Approval rules and current amounts are on Con Edison's page, so check them before you buy equipment.
Replacing gas appliances with electric: Energy Exchange
If your gas service line is due for replacement, Con Edison's Energy Exchange program pays incentives to replace gas appliances with electric ones: a stove or oven, a clothes dryer or a water heater. Your home has to disconnect fully from gas, space heating goes through Clean Heating and Cooling instead, and gas customers in Brooklyn and Staten Island are not eligible.
Heat pump water heaters also have their own instant rebate, listed in Con Edison's Incentive Viewer.
EV charging: SmartCharge New York
SmartCharge New York pays EV owners for charging off-peak. Our EV charging rewards guide covers how it works and which rate to pair it with.
Demand response: paid every summer
A rebate pays once. Con Edison's Smart Usage Rewards pays you each summer for cutting your usage during demand response events, through a partner such as Meltek. Our Smart Usage Rewards guide covers how it works and what you earn.
Income-eligible households
Community Power, Con Edison's community solar program for income-eligible renters and homeowners, credits your bill with solar power generated on NYCHA rooftops. Enrollment is limited, and Con Edison's page shows whether it is open; as of November 2026 the program and its waitlist were full. The Energy Affordability Program (EAP) discount is covered in our bill-help guide.
Neighborhood Program bonuses
In selected areas, Con Edison adds bonus incentives through its Neighborhood Program: low- and no-cost efficiency upgrades for homes, and extra incentives for businesses in designated network areas. The eligible areas change, so check the Incentive Viewer for your address.
How to get the most from them
A few rules apply across the programs:
- Check the Incentive Viewer before you buy, since some rebates depend on the model you choose.
- For heat pumps, get Con Edison’s approval before installing; equipment bought first may not qualify.
- Rebates pay once, while Smart Usage Rewards pays every summer you take part, so it adds up over the years.
