What inspired you to join Meltek?
I joined after I met co-founder Frank Bruckner on a networking site. I was taken with Meltek’s mission. I saw a tech-based start-up that wanted to help the public reduce their energy usage and reward them for doing so, and I found that worthwhile.
What’s one thing people should know about you?
In addition to my brand, content and strategy work, I’m also the lone Canadian on the crew. (I’m based in Montreal). And I’m also an author; my next novel, The Reeds, is out October 2024.
What are some of your goals for Meltek?
That’s easy. To grow. And not just geographically. I also want our blog (sign up if you haven’t yet) and newsletter to become go to resources that sit at the intersection of Demand Response, climate and energy issues, personal finance and savings, and the greening of the home. It’s a complicated Venn Diagram and the issues aren’t simple but our goal is to make things easy to understand and encourage customers and would-be customers to see the benefits of signing up with us. We also want to increase and diversify our product offer, encourage our customers to save energy – and earn money! and how they interact with us.
What do you hope to bring to Meltek?
I want to bring my experience with content and brand, both of which are just another way of saying “storytelling.” Meltek’s story is compelling, sure, but more than that, the issues that brought the company into being are very compelling. That’s the message we want to get out there. And, on top of that, our customers get paid to do a good thing. And if that weren’t enough, we also help our utility partners better manage their grids. Meltek is a win-win-win for all involved.
What is one thing about you that might surprise people to learn?
I’m a Kentucky Colonel. How I became one is a long story and, yes, it involves bourbon. Being a Colonel is not as exclusive as it sounds but I share something in common with the founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken! It’s always a great talking point when you meet someone at a bar. I carry a card in my wallet to prove it.
